Similarities of WH and HD Dehumidifiers
Preair's WH series and HD series dehumidifiers are well designed dehumidifiers that aims on providing a comfortable living environment for people. A whole-home dehumidifier is a specialized device designed to regulate and maintain the humidity levels in an entire house. Unlike portable dehumidifiers, which are limited to specific rooms, a whole-home dehumidifier is integrated into the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system and operates in conjunction with it.
These units are designed for quiet operation, and the noise levels are generally lower compared to some portable dehumidifiers. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, a whole-home dehumidifier can help prevent mold growth, reduce allergens, and create a more comfortable and healthier indoor environment.
Differences between WH and HD Dehumidifiers
Difference in Filter
The filter of the WH dehumidifier is MERV8 that is capable of removing a wide range of particles from the air, including dust, pollen, pet dander, and other common household particles. MERV 8 filters provide good filtration for residential applications. They strike a balance between air flow and filtration efficiency, making them suitable for many household HVAC systems. The MERV8 filter needs replacing every few months.
The filter of the HD dehumidifier is SUS304 that is easy to dispatch and clean. The advantage of the filter is cost-saving and the disadvantage is that it cannot stop small particles.
Difference in Display Board
The display board of the WH dehumidifier is an LED panel. Advantages of LED: 1. Energy efficient. 2. Can offer good color reproduction and contrast ratios. 3. Available in various sizes and resolutions. Disadvantages of LED: 1. Limited viewing angles. 2. Potential for motion blur, especially in older models. 3. Limited color accuracy compared to newer technologies like OLED.
The display board of the HD dehumidifier is an LCD panel. Advantages of LCD: 1. Improved contrast ratios and black levels (vs. traditional CCFL backlighting). 2. Can be thinner and lighter. 3. Can be more energy-efficient. Disadvantages of LCD: 1. Limited improvement in viewing angles. 2. Higher initial cost.
Difference in Capacity
Whole home units come in different capacities. The capacities of the WH70, WH90, WH135 dehumidifiers are separately 70PPD, 90PPD, 135PPD (@26.7℃/60%RH). The capacities of the HD70 and HD103 dehumidifiers are 70PPD and 103PPD (@26.7℃/60%RH) separately.
It's important to choose one that is appropriately sized for the square footage and moisture load of your home.
